News \ Zelda makes Times top ten list

 

 

Well it seems that Nintendo’s long running franchise the Zelda series, is as popular as ever, with it’s latest in the series The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for the Nintendo DS, scoring the number seven spot in Time’s top 10 best video games for 07.

Now I know some may be thinking that number seven isn’t the best spot to be on that list, but it is! To even get on that list is an achievement in it’s self, especially being up against a slew of HD online games that just seem to be in an entirely different league, and let’s not forget that The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass also picked up best hand held game at this years Video Game Awards.

Not long after it’s global release it seems that Phantom Hourglass is already making it’s stamp in the history of video games as one of the best games to have on a portable.


Time’s Top 10 best Video Games for 07

For those that are curious of what the top 10 list compromises of, here it is

  • #2 The Orange Box – 360, PS3, PC
  • #3 Rock Band - 360, PS3, PS2
  • #4 Super Mario Galaxy – Wii

  • #7 Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass – DS
  • #8 Mass Effect – 360
  • #9 Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation – 360

All of the games in the top ten are highly immersing and hence very good games. FPS allow for immersion because you have the perspective of the character. Nothing unusual in FPS being top games.

What is more suprising that Super Mario Galaxy - a platformer - is in the top ten.
