Well for some time now i have been thinking of getting the ASUS Eee pc. For one it is reasonably cheap for a full funtion laptop. Two It is a light weight computer which can replace a desktop if you have a hard drive. three it has a GMA 900 graphics which i can play my favourite online game conquer online. So should i get it and is it that good and is there anywhere i can get one from a store in Australia NSW Sydney Bankstown, Roselands or Chullora. Please any comments relating to the topics is needed thanks

No.
You can get a better, a much better laptop for about 100 more (Ee PC costs $500 AUD?)
It runs linux, which helps its slow processor + RAM. But still, it's crap.

I don't think Conquer can be played on Linux, either.

Actually you can put windows XP on it iamtom...

I would say yes, they are a great computer, but not for everyone. I really want on for school work, and moving out of my room for writing notes, email and internet browsing.

You will either hate it or love it. And I wouldn't buy it as your only PC/Lappy, it's just a second one, for text files (the small old games like you mentioned) e-mail and browsing, not for full PC use.

Though yes, I'd definitely put XP on it.

Yeah, but it'd run realy, REALLY slow, and wiht only 8/16gb FLASH memory, it wouldn't be recommended for XP. TinyXP, perhaps.

Do i need windows to play conquer because that wouldn't be good. Also i don't need alot of space i just need it for school and conquer that is all. I am thinking of getting of putting windows xp but that requires proffesional help in which i have. I just wanna it to do all the funtions a computer does and i wanna know if it can play conquer online. On the other hand is this computer isn't a full funtion computer i can allways get a computer for $500 at a warehouse but it may be larger and may be used twice. I have seen on youtube people playing WoW on it i'm pretty sure it can play conquer online. Also can conquer be able to play on linuex.

OK
Done.
According to my dist, no, Conquer cannot be played on Linux.
Whats a REAL PC? Windows? Mac? Desktop? Palm?
No. You'll need the linux distributed versions. One of the reasons people don't use linux is cause, well, it can't run very much T_T

1. No, not on linux, but you can easily install windows xp on it with a stripped down version (stripped down = faster and less harddrive taken up)

2. What do you mean by "Real PC"

3. If you installed windows you probably could.

It's all in the how to use MyDS guide here www.myds.com.au/

To put a video in your post take the youtube URL such as www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGu8yS5kwhQ then put the bold part in the

by real pc i mean the full funtions a pc can do eg use programs etc. the asus eee pc sounds like you need to customixe it to do the funtions you want. I sort of need more info i looked up on google youtube etc and they said that it's better with windows or mac os some say leperd but the info i got is it's one of the best laptops ( it isn't classified as a laptop since it can't even sit on your lap ) but i want a computer to do all my main tasks conquer online, windows word, powerpoint, publisher and windows movie maker. i don't want trouble if i get this i just wanna get a laptop open it up and ready to go with full funtions resonably lite and at a good price. The best deal i have ever seen was a toshiba laptop with 512ram ( it got upgraded ) and a 80g hard drive and sleek design for $500 who got that ? My mum, from myer as a clearenced item. She needed it for her buisness work. I may decide to get her a hard drive and buy it off her for $550 including a hard drive for her work but i'm not gonna do that becasue she needs a computer for her work. Please any help nessesary for weather to get the ASUS Eee pc. Thanks.

Well the asus eeepc is for
 • Text files (e.g. word, powerpoint, excel)
 • Old School Gaming (fairly old games)
 • E-Mail
 • MSN
 • Web browsing (including youtube and interactive flash sites)

If there is more than that you want to do with it then I suggest you buy a "full" laptop or desktop PC.

Keep in mind that you may want to put on a stripped version of Windows XP to have all this work (a bit of fiddling and a download). And also remember you only get 4gb of storage, unless you add an SD card (Extra cost) or USB external HDD (extra cost and bulky)

So for the windows xp only what about vista. thats $199 ( or more), a hard drive or sd card $50 - $200 that will be a total say $249 or $399 extra. Total with Asus eee pc $749 or $899 if i get windows xp $550 or $700. Still lower than the real cost of a laptop but i may keep in mind that it is only 4g flash memory. probly $600- $700 for a 80g hard drive laptop. This is confusing since alot of people want ASUS Eee pc they maybe sold out in the stores you can get them from. If i do install windows xp i have to delete the linuex software and then connect to the ASUS Eee pc with a usb drive with windows xp ( or a hard drive ) and then tweek it from there and i don't how to do that. Plus proffesional help costs like $100 less or more. So in the end i'll be paying say $700- $800 in the end that equels to the amount of a laptop with al

No, that's wrong adommer. You don't HAVE to have extra harddrive space...because the things I mentioned the eeepc is made for, don't take up that much space (text files are very small).

Vista will definitely not run on it.

XP will cost you nothing, there are free, stripped down (for less space usage and faster performance) versions of XP SPECIFICALLY MADE for the eeepc.

So if i got the asus Eee pc i have to get a stripped version of windows xp and then do what i can to change the previous software linux or what it's called. If i got the eee pc where can i get the windows stripped version for free and how can i change the linuex to windows xp stripped version without the need of proffesional help ( which costs money ) and without trouble. I have seen on youtube have trouble with changing the linuex to windows xp stripped.

If it's a good distro of Linux, anything.

Uh. To change it...um...install TinyXP by downloading it, install it, and then delete Linux...I think. Not too sure. It's a flash drive, so it SHOULD work.
BUT WHY WOULDN"T YOU USE LINUX. WHYYYY!

I wouldn't use linuex because of my every day tasks like conquer online. My parents won't let me add games like conquer. I had it on there until they found out. so i really like the game and i do animtaion stop motion so i need windows movie maker. Lastly for school i need a computer for school to do my homework where ever i can because the family computer has a logg in only my parents know which i have to ask them to log in for me which can be a pain because when they have work i can't go on the computer.

Okay for the first few months I stayed on the default linux install and honestly, for what I use it for it's all you need! By default it's kind of a dumbed down GUI but you can switch it over to the full linux interface if you want via a couple of tweeks. I never bothered doing these though, as the default install was all I needed for work.

As of today though, I have switched to XP which runs blindingly fast on a default install let alone a tweeked 'performance' install. The only reason for this switch is I have an app which I can't run on the linux install and I need it for work. But for 99% of my usage, I could leave it on the linux install!
