Hardware \ Warning, R4 Discontinuation.

After browsing various selling sites, as well as the R4ds site, it has come to my attention that R4 will no longer be getting updates. The new card that replaces it is the N5 (n5ds.com). It seems that the N5 is the replacement as their supplied skins are the R4's old ones, with one slight change.

Also, if the user from ozmodchips can verify this, then we'll be saving a fair bit of users the pain of buying an R4 and eventually finding out that it is obsolete now. Note: the first system stuff for N5 is 1.19, whereas the last R4 was 1.18, which, when coupled with the fact that the N5 site states that it is from the M3R4 people, there is basically all the proof you may need for saying R4 is officially obsolete.

We have better cards now anyway, so I don't see why R4/N5 would be needed anymore.

The updates mainly fixed the problems with some games, if there are no more updates, then any games that are uncompatible will stay that way.

I might just buy a Supercard + 3in1 or something +3in1 via ozmodchips.

P.S. is the Ozmodchips business run by a Sole Trader(One person) or is it more? If the ozmodchip user on the MyMedia forums can present some info about this apparent discontinuation, then we've pretty much got justice.

P.P.S. How do I tell what's the authentic supercard? modsupplier has a diff image than other sites.

www.Ozmodchips.com charges about $15 more for a 2gb micro and R4 than www.bamboogaming.com. $100 at ozmodchips, aprox $85 at bamboo. but i guess ozmodchips is more local (although ive never had troubles with bamboo)

The N5 apparently supports SDHC cards, however I'd just ditch the M3R4N5 company for the Supercards and other ones.


Note: R4 may not be discontinued, as the Wikipedian for the storage devices says N5 may be a clone/fake.

Ok, for one more thing, should I get an AcekardRPG or a Cyclo, or if I do manage to get another ds (testing purposes etc), I could buy both.

Exactly, selling sites. People that buy clones and use bull**** lines like this to suck you in.

N5 is just a clone of the R4, thats all. R4 will receive updates id needed....they are not really needed though unless a game stops working

Ozmodchips is run by 3 people full time. We use about 10 more for wii installs
