I have never had any guitar lessons but I was sounding good within 20 minutes. This is more like a simulator than a game, it is no guitar hero. To play, you hold down the direction pad and strum up and down to hit your notes. Different notes are assigned to different directions. The game supports both left and right handed people so the lefties can use the A B etc buttons but it does make it harder to hit the in between notes as you have to hold two buttons at once. The tutorial is very informative and has some great tips on getting some nice sounds. Basically a note and a direction is displayed on the top screen, meaning hold this note and strum in this direction.... It is that simple. The touch screen has a string displayed which is strummed by the stylus to make your music. There is a warm up mode which has a basic song to get you started. There are 17 songs in the songs section to choose from. Ten of the songs have a demo so you can hear what they are supposed to sound like. Free play allows you to jam and make your own music. This mode also has a record button which allows you to save 5 of your masterpieces. You can assign your own notes to the direction pad and also use the shoulder button to select a second set of notes in case you need more than 8. You can select the metronome setting with its adjustable timing to help you along. I would have scored this game higher but I think it should have included more songs or maybe some more modern songs. When I show my friends this program they cannot keep their hands off of it. Suitable for ages 12 and up. Graphics - 7/10 Gameplay - 9/10 Sound - 10/10 Eldude
