Pokemon Platinum Review - 9/10

Introduction
After the massive success of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, GameFreak started work on another Pokemon game in that series, in the same style as Pokemon Yellow, Crystal & Emerald, it is considered the “Directors Cut” of this series of Pokemon, but is it worth your time? Read on to find out
Controls: 9/10
The Controls are the same as they where in Diamond & Pearl which was already a nice change with the option to use either stylus or the face buttons, to players who are new to the series (which is hard to believe) or haven’t jumped onto this generations band wagon yet, you will find the controls to be rewarding and you will find unlike a lot of the destined bargain bin games, the touch screen is not overused
Graphics: 8.5/10
The Graphics for the game are still vibrant and nice on the eye, but I cant help feeling that the game could have pushed the envelope a little more in this department, the game is still visually a lot like it was in the GBA games in the battles, and town has a few Pseudo 3D effects, but I think I was expecting a little more of an adjustment
Sound: 8/10
The Sound of the game has started to become stale, the sound hasn’t changed much over the years and this is very obvious in the sound byte played when the player takes there Pokemon to the Pokemon center and the Pokemon is placed on the machine and begins being healed, I found myself playing Pokemon platinum with the sound of for the majority of the time
Gameplay: 8.5/10
The game play is the same as it was in most of the entry's in the series, but I have to argue that the gameplay doesn’t need to be changed, if It was changed too much I believe it would be be a detriment to the series, if the series is to continue I believe that one original story per entry into the series is really enough (ie – Different story in Red, Blue, Yellow to Gold, Silver, Crystal) it really is enough, as long as the story is a little different people shouldn’t get too bored with it, the story has enough changes to it, and enough new additions, to make it interesting even to the people who played Diamond & Pearl
Multiplayer: 9.5/10
Once again the multiplayer of the series Is a very strong point, it is one of the strongest multiplayer games available on the Nintendo DS/DSi the game does still suffer from people cheating but as does every game these days, being able to battle your friend who lives a state or two away easily is a fun and fantastic feature not exactly new to Platinum but for people who haven’t touched Diamond or Pearl yet they will find it to be enjoyable
Overall: 8.8/10
In Closing, as Pokemon games go it is your standard game with a few tweaks for the advanced capabilities of the console, as a third entry in this particular series of the Pokemon Franchise it is different enough that it is well worth going through again even for someone who poured countless hours into Pokemon Diamond/Pearl, the new features will add some more game time and are easy to use, and I personally had no bugs with the game except for the fact that it is a borderline crazy task to catch them all legitimately
