News \ Playstation beats out Wii in Japan for a second week

Sony's box of power, the Playstation 3 is now beating out the Nintendo Wii for the second week in a row in Japanese sales stats. Media Create released details showing that for the second time since the cheaper 40GB version of the PS3 hit shelves, it has beat down the Wii.
Hardware sales were down roughly 30% for the week but the PS3 has stayed in it's third place position with 39,178 units ahead of the Wii's 36,230 units.

Currently the Nintendo DS Lite is sitting in the number one hardware sales position.

We'll keep you informed as news comes as to whether this is a long term rise or just a short chain of PS3 impulse buying.

Many wii owners and new comers to video games become hard core gamers and that's good for Nintendo. However hard core gamers formerly on the PS2/Xbox have not drifted to the Wii.

I am a fanboy and hence the Wii. But if I was to start again then the Ps3 would probably win out.

In this current generation, the winner will be Wii, Ps3 and the Xbox 360 will be relegated to the last. Xbox360 sales have stalled.
