The future of Nintendo in New Zealand is uncertain as the companies distributor, Soft Print Interactive, has had all of its stock seized by debtors. Soft Print Interactive is the supplier for Nintendo and Activision in New Zealand, this means that both companies will not have any of their products supplied in NZ until this is sorted out.
Companies are never keen to comment in this situation, Nintendo of Australia has been no different by stating "Nintendo Australia has not received official notification regarding any announcement concerning Softprint Interactive (SPI NZ Ltd.), Nintendo’s New Zealand distributor. As a result, we are unable to comment further at this stage." Soft Print Interactive were equally unhelpful offering no comment on the future of Nintendo or Activision in New Zealand but did confirm that the they were in receivership.
This news comes at a bad time for Kiwi Nintendo gamers, with the popular Wii Fit recently hitting shelves and the highly anticipated Super Smash Bros. Brawl intended to arrive later this month, looks like those in New Zealand could have the wait for Brawl extended once again. Activision are behind the popular Call of Duty and Guitar Hero series, Guitar Hero on Tour was set to be released in the coming months and could be another title that misses it's release date.
