The local Ubisoft team sent word today that Prince of Persia: The Fallen King is well and truly in the works for Nintendo DS and is expected to ship this holiday season. The game is being put together by Ubisoft's Casablanca team and is set to compliment the upcoming console and PC edition to the series. However it will be following its own independent story line within the universe and promises stylus based controls. It seems that everyone has now caught on that the touch screen isn't just for RPGs and Cooking Mama.

So what's it all about? The official line currently goes to the tune of:
Facing imminent danger, the Prince flees to a deserted kingdom that seemingly offers sanctuary. Already touched by the evil Corruption, a dark substance that physically contaminates the land and the skies, the kingdom is filled with adventure, challenge and intrigue. As the Prince seeks a way to fight the spreading Corruption destroying the land, he encounters a partially infected creature that promises salvation. But is the creature truly an ally or merely an enemy in disguise? It seems this perilous alliance may be the only way for the Prince to face the forces of darkness and save the Persian kingdom from the Corruption once and for all.

It looks to have around 50 maps (levels we assume?) and also a dual character system, switching to Magus, a new ally, when needed. Check out the couple of concept art pieces we got below.
