Metroid Prime: Hunters. Lived up to what we expect? - 9/10
Metroid Prime Hunters:
Single Player:
Based on the story line between Metroid Prime 1 and 2, Hunters handled the DS style gameplay better than anyone could have imagined, although it didn't live up to a true metroid prime game, it still handled a first person shooter better than any one yet on DS.
As Samus Arin travels through the Universe, she finds a distress signal notifying her of a power source greater than anything before, as she attempts to capture it to make sure it doesn't fall in the wrong hands, she faces 6 other Bounty Hunters that intercepted the signal and are now trying to take it themselves.
I believe the single player was let Hunters down, it's lack of depth like all metroid games, as well as the bleak story really let it down, also the fact that you were collecting artifacts and nothing else but a few new weapons, got a bit stale. I felt as though i was repeating much of the game over and over, seeing the same bosses more than a few times, and every planet seemed to be the same.
The only thing that gave it a good side for me, was the cinematics which may i say were amazing for a DS, as well as the controls... They offered a new way to play games. giving it a PC mouse like action, this game was fun, and easy to control. The cutout of lock on mode was replaced by the amazing ability of the touch screens controls.
Conclusion
The 1 player in Hunters compared to just about any other DS rpg was great, did things a game hasn't done before, and to any new metroid fan would seem great. But to anyone that has played metroid prime before, it is a big let down to see such opportunity wasted in the single player, which is why i play a metroid game.
Multiplayer:
This was the strong point of the game, and obviously what the game developers put the most effort into. With the ability to use Single Card play with your friends, this feature was great, then when you both have a Hunters game card, it was endless amounts of fun.
The Large range, of different options, any of the Hunters from the single player, and a couple dozen levels to choose from, all of this for up to a 4 player game, it was nice to see Nintendo finally create a good multilayer Metroid game, especially on a Hand held, but they didn't stop there...
Nintendo even managed to put in a WiFi part of the game, the ability to either through friend codes to verse your friends, or randomly throughout the world, play other hunters lovers, was a dream come true for a gamer, and heaven for a metroid fan.
Conclusion:
Anyone would say the multiplayer is the good part of Hunters, without it i doubt i would have bought the game, without WiFi i can understand why most people don't enjoy it us much as they could.
Story - 6/10 The Weak Point of the game
Graphics - 8/10 Cinematics were great, gameplay was alright
Sound - 10/10It's Nintendo, half my playlist is their music
Gameplay - 9/10 Handled amazing for a Hand Held
Overall - 9/10
One of my high recommendations for a DS game, especially If you have a WiFi connection where you live. The Single Player in this game was massive letdown for any metroid fan, but the multiplayer gave it it's backup that it needed to get a high mark.
This is why Metroid is one of the greatest Gaming Saga's Ever!
