Metroid Prime Hunters is one of the best FPS games on the DS. It makes fantastic use of the touch screens capabilities by using the stylus (or wrist strap) as the main control. You aim with the touch screen and jump by tapping the touch screen twice. There is an adventure mode that is based in the Tetra Galaxy, where Samus and 6 fellow bounty hunters are looking for the "Ultimate Power". There are four planets to explore and countless enemy organisms to blast. As the adventure goes on, Samus will acquire six new sub-weapons and energy and missile tanks. At the end of the adventure is a special surprise. It might have something to do with this "Ultimate Power".... the adventure mode is a little repetitive and may soon get very boring for those after 100%. Now on to multiplayer. In this new FPS for the DS, there are three multiplayer modes. Multicard, single card and WiFi. I will describe each in detail. Single card allows 2-4 DS owners to battle it out in one of 27 battle arenas where the host (the Metroid came card owner) one of 7 hunters (which have to be unlocked by playing WiFi or adventure mode) and the other DS owners are Samus. As there is only one game cart, single card play allows for only one mode, Battle. Multicard play allows one player to play against bots in all seven modes: Battle, Survival, Bounty, Capture, Nodes, Defender and the Prime Hunter. Or against live opponents adding bots for absent players. You can choose the difficulty of the bots you add. 1 star is easy, 2 is normal, 3 is hard. Overall, this Metroid game has it all in the multiplayer modes and the sheer excitement and fun of battle. The single player is good except that it does get a little boring and repetitive when going from planet to planet, scanning, shooting getting and octilith, and over and over again. The bosses are excellent though. Graphics: 10/10 Sound: 8/10 Gameplay: 9/10 Overall:9/10 Djinni
