There are some games that are just so amazing, that it is found that the next generations of Gamers. Super Mario Advance allows you to play two classic games in the Franchise’s history right on your DS or Gameboy Advance. Was this remake good enough for the gamers of 2002? Lets find out.
Mario Bros.
Mario Bros. Was an Arcade game in 1983. It was made not only for arcade, but also, Commodore 64, the Atari 2600, and the Nintendo Entertainment System. In Super Mario Advance (1 & 2), This is more of a mini game if anything.
1983
The graphics have really improved, though the gamelay stays the same.
2002
Graphics 9/10
I’m grading these graphics because they were new in 2000, as this game appeared In Mario Advance, so I’m grading them in that way. I’m glad Nintendo took the time to update the graphics in this game.
Gameplay 7/10
All the gameplay is just a 2-d plat former. You hit the Turtles, Crabs, etc., and run into them to eliminate them from the game. It is both hard and addictive. It is mostly how long you can stay in without being hit any amount of times. There is multiplayer, but I haven’t gotten to play it yet…
Music 10/10
The music is very similar to that of the Underground levels in Super Mario Bros., yet Interesting and different.
Story 4/10
The closest thing you get to a story in this is:
Two plumbers were trapped in a sewer.
Super Mario World
An amazing Mario Adventure, one of the best games in history! It originally came out on the SNES, and was considered an amazing game, now and then. Last year it was also added to the Nintendo Wii’s virtual console.
Gameplay 10/10
It is very similar to Super Mario Bros. for the NES. The gameplay is familiar to any Mario veteran. Run through a side-scrolling world and get to the end of the level. You are entitled to a choice though, a choice of Mario of Luigi. (Luigi can jump higher, but Mario can stop himself quicker.) Also, There are two major editions in Gameplay. The first happens to be something called Yoshi, who appears on the cover.
Yoshi is like a dinosaur-lizard sort of ting that Mario or Luigi can ride on. He can swallow enemies whole, and as seen above when certain enemies are spit out, they have cool effects.
Another addition is the cape, which is still seen on Mario today.
With this Mario can glide in the air, and also take down any enemies in his way. Speaking of enemies, there are many new foes here on Yoshi’s Island.
Sound and Music 8/10
The sound is interesting; they brought Mario’s voice from the original Super Mario Advance, though it’s not outstanding. The music, however is great, almost as great as the original Super Mario Bros. soundtrack.
Graphics 9/10
The graphics were great for the GBA in 2002. Ironically, it was also good enough for the consoles of the 1990s.

As you can see, Super Mario World is Just as good as any of those if not better, probably second to A Link To The Past.
Story 7/10
Mario, Luigi and Princess Peach went on a vacation to Yoshi’s Island where Peach is kidnapped. (did you see that coming?) They encounter Yoshi and the three must team up to stop Bowser and the Koopalings to save Peach!
Mario Bros. 8/10
Super Mario World 10/10
