Pokemon Pearl/Diamond - 9/10

POKEMON DIAMOND PEARL REVIEW therWord

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl were, as they were made out to be, the best Pokemon game yet! The first Pokemon game to see astounding 3D graphics has agitated all the Pokemon fans across the globe. As well as a fresh generation of Pokemon, along with new evolutions to ad to all the favourites from the previous games will drive any gamer crazy.

GRAPHICS 8/10

As mentioned earlier, Diamond and Pearl have added overwhelming 3D graphics which has made the adventure much more improved from Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald. With an intense collection of dazzling colours as well as new and improved buildings and scenery makes for exceptionally fine graphics that pleased almost everybody who has been so privileged to play this game. On a bad note is the constant and ghastly use of the character and people in the game. Their heads are bigger than their bodies and they are so unrealistic it’s just sad.

SOUND 8/10

The new generation has, sadly, yet to enhance the tunes since the original games. They are still a quiet and uneventful group of sounds mumbled up together. But they do stick in your head for a number of years after playing which can get very irritating. But we still have to evaluate the sound to the console as well, which in this case the Nintendo DS lite. On PlayStation and X Box you can have much higher quality songs because of the disc space, so because this sound is coming through petite speakers, we have to make an exception.



GAMEPLAY 10/10

The cause for the success of the Pokemon franchise is its unbelievably addictive gameplay. The battle systems, the human interaction, the Pokemon behaviors and much more all add to its success. In the Pearl and Diamond generation, we have upgraded gameplay features to add onto these. You don’t have to be a Rocket Scientist to speculate why it has been a world-wide phenomenon once you position your longing hands on the game, but just be warned, once picked up, it cannot be put down. Period.

STORYLINE 10/10

There have been some games that have had the total package, they have got excellent gameplay, the controls feel so comfortable you just want to cry and there is good music to go along with it. But there was something very crucial missing from this package. It is called a storyline Ladies and Gentlemen! If not the most important aspect in video games, it contributes beautifully to the Pokemon generation, and was the sole reason the Television series did so well. The storyline in Pearl and Diamond goes perfectly with the gameplay, which is a rare thing in games. This is what gives Diamond and Pearl the it factor…if you know what I mean.
