Nintendo of Europe has announced the local released date for the highly anticipated Pokemon Platinum. The title is set to reach European shores on 22 May 2009.

Pokemon Platinum has sold 2.4 million copies in Japan since it's release in September 2008. The third and final installment in the Pokemon Diamond/Pearl trilogy is set to arrive in the US on March 22 2009, two months before Europe.

The bad news is that Nintendo of Australia is yet to confirm this date. Generally the European and Australian dates are tied together as both are Pal regions. Hopefully we'll have official confirmation about an Australia release in the near future, for now it's safe to assume it will be arriving here on or around May 22 (but we cannot confirm that at this stage).
