News \ Aussie pirate may have crushed chances to have games released early

The Australian man responsible for copying New Super Mario Bros. Wii and uploading it to the internet may have crushed any chances we had of receiving future games earlier than other regions.

We normally receive games later than both the US and Japan. As you can imagine we were shocked when Nintendo decided to released New Super Mario Bros. Wii, possibly their biggest game for the year, in Australia first. However, after the pirate was convicted to pay Nintendo $1.6 million in damages, and $100,000 in court fees, that might never happen again.

A Nintendo Australia spokesperson told Gamespot "Nintendo Australia is always pushing for games to be released here at the same time as the rest of the world, so we were pleased to get New Super Mario Bros. Wii before anyone else."

"Unfortunately, due to to the actions of this individual, future release dates may be affected for Australia, which is disappointing for us."

thats correct if it does get pushed back then people would naturally import them

That's exactly right. People from all over the world do it, not just Australians. So it's silly to give us games later than other regions, because it will happen anyways, regardless of location.
