When you visit one of your townies, they might start shaking and complain they don't feel well. Take them medicine to help them feel better. You might have to take them medicine once a day for several days to fix them 100%.
The axe is just for chopping down trees. If you get the golden axe, it won't break like the regular axe does.
The slingshot is to shoot the balloons down that you see floating across the top screen. Shoot down 15 balloons and on the 16th balloon you'll see a gold tool box attached to the balloon. Shoot it down for the golden slingshot. The golden slingshot shoots off 3 stones instead of one for greater hit ratio.
You can also shoot down the ufo that you sometime see in the top screen (you can earn bonus items by helping out Guliver the UFO pilot when you shoot him down) and you can shoot Pete the pelican (mailman) down for a chat too.
