Konami has announced Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia exclusively for the Nintendo DS, via Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. Development will be lead by Koji Igarashi, the producer on Castlevania:Portrait of Ruin and Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow.
Anthony Crouts, the Vice President of Marketing for Developer Konami says "We have always felt that the Castlevania franchise has been an excellent fit on Nintendo DS, and based on the popularity of the DS classics, Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin, our fans agree. We fully expect Order of Ecclesia to ignite the fan base once again as it combines the classic Castlevania gameplay with an all-new combat system and outdoor environments."
Order of Ecclesia will feature an all new attack system that allows gamers to use over 100 special attack combinations. Players take on the role of a member of Ecclesia, an organisation that is determined to defeat the wild Dracula and his minions. There will be over 20 playable locations which include areas outside of Dracula’s castle giving players new areas to explore. Multiplayer will be featured although it is unknown at this stage it that will be through local connection, WFC (online) or a mixture of both.
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia looks set to be released in the US fall (autumn) this year.
