Just coming off their latest tour, US based synth-pop band Freezepop will be dropping into the comic world this Wednesday. Liz Enthusiasm, the Duke of Pannekoeken, and the Other Sean T. Drinkwater will all be guest starring to help Matt and Guyver with their musical quest.
Freezepop has always been something of an oxymoron: embraced by both hipsters and nerds; serious about irony; and retro-futuristic. A synth band in a guitar videogame, singing pop songs about rock. And it all somehow makes sense when you listen to the music.
If you've been a long time Guitar Hero or Rockband, chances are you've even played a few of their songs with Freezepop getting one of their tracks in just about every Harmonix game to date. But even if you're not, Freezepop have had long time ties throughout the video game world, performing at the Penny Arcade Expo on several occasions.
The group has been around since 1999, originally composing all their music on a single Yamaha QY-70 MIDI sequencer and releasing homemade EPs. In 2000 their first album, Freezepop Forever, hit receiving much love along with several more EPs following in it's trail. Fancy Ultra*Fresh hit in 2004, again released on their own label. Finally after eight years of releasing their own CDs, Freezepop teamed up with Rykodisc/Cordless Recordings to release Future Future Future Perfect. The single 'Less Talk More Rokk' landed itself at #4 in the top dance/electronic songs of 2007 on iTunes. Check out Freezepop's website at http://www.freezepop.com/
