The Nintendo DS is no doubt Nintendo’s little money earner, with the dual screen hand held selling over 50 million units world wide, and now it seems that it’s popularity among consumers in the UK has just spiked through the roof, selling a phenomenal 191,000 units in one week.

That milestone has just stamped the Nintendo name in the record books for most hardware sales in a seven day period, bumping off the previous record of 185,000 Sony PSP units sold in a week back in September 1st 2005.

So what does this mean for us? Well with more units being distributed, Nintendo and 3rd party game developers will have to start making top games to keep the current momentum of popularity going.
